mitt romney in an editorial board meeting with "the des moines register" yesterday talked about how he would not pursue legislation that would restrict abortion rights in this country. so it will be interesting to see if that question comes up. these kinds of questions don't typically come up, but it could. >> i want to just jump in because he's a terrific orator, and i want to hear some of the comments live from chris christie. let's listen in for a moment. >> -- the truth about these problems and that some of the solutions aren't going to be easy, and they may hurt. but we know the answers. and what we're missing now more than anything else, in my opinion, is someone to grab us all by the hand and lead us there. to say, i know the way, and so do you. and i will take the shots that are necessary. i will take the hits that are necessary. i will take the criticism that will come from those who want to pursue the easier path because that's what you're hiring me to do. and that's what this election's really about in my opinion, everybody. is who's going to do that. and if you look at the

we're focussing on mitt romney's changing stance on abortion. plus, the wives are more popular than their husbands. could they help sway voters? we're talking about a sfoer out of florida where a parking garage has collapsed trapping several people. rescue crews are on the scene in florida. we don't know exactly how many people are trapped, but one person has been taken to the hospital. a spokeswoman for miami dade fire and rescue says the parking garage was under construction when it collapsed. they're calling it a pancake collapse because the floors fell on one another from top to bottom. we'll, of course, update you as we get more information there in florida. our affiliates there helping us out. >>> now to a huge affirmative action case. it's a student that claims she was denied admission to the university of text technical because she is white. that student abigail noel fisher, that's her right there, sued the school after being rejected in 2008. fisher says u.t.'s admissions policy unfairly favors minority students. the school says it only

mitt romney enjoying a nice bounce in the buckeye state. look at the brand new cnn/orc poll of likely voters in ohio after the first presidential debate. the president's lead there shrinking to four points. that is well within the margin of error. that makes the race for 18 electoral votes a statistically dead heat. before the debate some polls had the president ahead by ten points, i should say barack obama only beat john mccain in ohio by four points. i think they would take a four-point win there, no problem. mitt romney's not flip-flopping on big bird after he promised to cut fund for pbs. the obama camp went on the attack accusing the republican nominee of trying to kill the prop particular sesame street character. here's what he told wolf blitzer last night 12k3w4r big bird is going to be just fine. sesame street is a wonderful enterprise. cnn does not get funding but somehow y'all stay on the air. i just think that pbs will be able to make it on its own just like every one of the other stations and does not require us to go to china

mitt romney, if you listen carefully to what he said, he talks about legislation. well, that's very different as you and i know, brooke, from supporting nominees to the supreme court who would outlaw abortion, who would overturn roe v. wade. that's very different than supporting legislation that would try to do that in congress. and so i think that might be the distinction there that mitt romney is going for. as you mentioned, a few moments ago, he has evolved on this issue over the years and romney has not shied away from that. he admitted back in 2004 that when he was governor of massachusetts that he had had a conversion on this issue. it was when he was basically told about what happened to embryos during stem cell research, that is when he says he had an epiphany on the issue of life and from then on forward he has been pretty staunchly anti-abortion. >> so, let me jump in, because you any, you say distinction, we could call it knnuance, that th nuance on this abortion issue is cropping up as the president and his supporters are accusing romney of flip-floppin
